Sidekins is a companion for your Mac: a desktop app, this website and a phone web app, made by Kushal Jain in India. This page says what Sidekins collects, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted. Write to 18kushaljain@gmail.com with any question.
What we collect
Your account. Your handle, display name and email address. If you sign in with Google, your Google account's ID, name, email address and profile photo. If you set a password, only a one-way hash of it is kept, never the password itself.
What you say to your kin. Your messages, the files you attach, and its replies. When you talk to it, your voice is turned into text: the text is kept with your messages and the audio is not. Transcripts of live calls are kept so you can read them back. What your kin remembers about you is listed in Settings, where you can make it forget any of it.
Your screen, while you use it. When you talk to your kin, or it looks at your screen to help you, the desktop app takes a picture of your screen and reads the names and words of what is on it. These go to an AI model to answer you. The pictures are not stored on our servers. The app uses your screen only while you are asking it something, while it guides you, or while it does what you asked; it does not watch in the background.
What it does for you. In Do mode it presses, types and opens things on your Mac when you ask. It never enters passwords or card numbers, never pays for anything, and asks you first before anything that reaches other people, spends money or deletes. The jobs it runs, your reminders and goals, and what it makes for you (documents, pictures, pages) are kept in your account.
Friends. If you use the social side: who your friends are, your direct and group messages, the moments you post, your kin's visits, and whether your desk is open, so friends can see you are around. If you look for friends among your contacts, their addresses and numbers are turned into one-way codes on your Mac and only those codes are checked. Your contacts themselves never leave your Mac.
Google services you connect. If you connect Google Calendar, Gmail or Contacts, we keep the access Google gives us and use it only to do what you ask, such as reading your calendar or sending an email you approved.
Your phone. If you pair a phone, its browser's notification subscription, so we can send you notifications.
Payments. If you buy Pro, payment is handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. We do not see or store your card details.
How the service is running. Counts and timings of what happens (for example, that a chat turn finished and how long it took), errors, and what each model call cost, so we can keep Sidekins working. These records do not contain what you said.
How we use it
To run Sidekins for you: to answer you, do what you ask, keep your history and what your kin remembers, connect you with friends, and keep the service working and safe. We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not train AI models on it.
Who else handles it
- AI model providers that turn your messages, voice and screen pictures into answers: OpenAI, Anthropic and Google, directly or through OpenRouter. Each gets what one request needs, under its API terms.
- Fly.io (our servers), Supabase (our database, in the United States), Vercel (this website), Resend (email), Dodo Payments (payments), GitHub (app downloads), and Google (sign-in, and the Google services you connect).
Google user data
Sidekins' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data from Google is used only for the features you turn on. It is not sold, not used for advertising and not used to train AI models, and nobody reads it except with your permission, for security, or where the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your account's data while your account is open. To delete your account and everything in it, write to 18kushaljain@gmail.com from the address on your account, and we delete it within 30 days. At any time you can make your kin forget things in Settings, disconnect Google services, and unpair phones.
On your Mac, the app keeps its settings, a dictation dictionary and a log in your Library folder (Application Support and Logs, under Sidekins). They stay on your Mac until you delete them.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored only as one-way hashes.
Children
Sidekins is not for children under 13.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes, and we tell you in the app about anything that matters.
